Well Sue has put out a plea for HELP.

THIS IS WHAT SHE WROTE.....

This is the quilting map fabric panel from Spotlight. It is now discontinued. I am sending out a plea to my Aussie Hero Friends to look in their local Spotlights to see if they can get them for me. They are currently on sale for $4.80 per panel. None left in Spotlight South Morang and Preston.

Please email Sue from her blog if you can help.

I was lucky enough to find 7 of them at my local store.
They will be in the mail tomorrow.

Aussie Heroes sewing

Here is my pretty quilt ready for an Aussie Hero.

The design is one of Deana's of Dreamworthy quilts.
It was a fun QAL. I didn't do all the blocks as I only wanted a 42" wide quilt to suit the rules of an Aussie Her quilt.
I added the Australian Flags made into quilts hanging on the line.
Hope the recipient likes it.

Here is the laundry bag for my last recipient.

The request was for flowers, purple & an Australian flag.

Well, I didn't add the flag to this bag but it is on the quilt.

I'm doggy sitting my brothers dog for a little while.
So far we are had him for 3 months. He is such a good little dog.

I'm doing a Workshop on how to do this large appliqué next week.

He looks like what I did on this quilt.

Aloe Vera flowers

This is how our little garden is growing.

Looking at the flower from the Aloe Vera plant.

Time for girly stitching

It's girly time now.
2.5" strips just makes everything easier and quicker.
It's amazing what you can get out of the smallest pieces.

And it is all quilted and bound.

My friend was very happy with them.
I'm on a roll.
I have another 2 to get started on and finished quickly.

Sewing for a baby boy

The strip blocks are done. Now to work out how to get it a little bigger.
It needs a colour to seperate the blocks.
Blue is the colour for sashing.

Blocks have their sashings on.


The sashings are on and it is a flimsy

The boys did some cooking

Baking time in the house.

The boys making yummy banana muffins for them to put in their lunch box each day.

They ended up making a 2nd batch on another night.

These were vanilla ones..

Concentrating hard getting the batter into the pans..

Little boy hot dogs & spaghetti.. Thread the spaghetti through the sausage then put in boiling water until cooked. The boys loved them and ate them all up so fast. It made it more fun and tastier because they did it...

They did a good job. We all had fun.

Hope they do it again with their mum.

Taupe shopping

The apple fabric will be the lining for my BORO work pouch I intend to make.

No it's not taupe but I can see it used.

While I was at my daughters I wanted some yarn to knit a scarf/wrap.

The only sewing i did while away

When I went into the city of Melbourne I took a little sewing project.
1/2" Hexies. A project I started years ago on a sewing cruise.
Class was with Jane MacDonald.
Well it was a little carry along project.

Then I continued it while looking after the grandsons.

I was also asked to sew on my grandsons Karate patch
How could I refuse.

I managed to get 2 finished.

Not sure when I'll get back to them but they will always be there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU KRISTY

My daughter got home for her honeymoon cruise n the afternoon. She unpacked, caught up on news and then we both headed off into the city of Melbourne for a great night.
The waiter took our photo and caught the tram going past.
The corner of Flinders Street & Swanston Street.
The opposite corner is Federation square.
It was a bit daunting with the streets lined with police cars.
Not sure if that was because of recent activities or just presence to keep things under control but we did have a great time and walked to the theatre very comfortably.

My daughter celebrates her birthday around Mother's Day and today is it.
A lovely treat for us to share a dinner and show together.
We used to do this often and I do miss it.
We will need to plan this when a new show is out.


Of course I had the seafood pasta. Yummy.

My daughter was hanging out for a steak and she got it.

The famous Young and Jacksons Pub

Our night at the theatre.
What a fantastic show.
It was one of the best shows we have seen. Funny, great music and the costumes were amazing.

My visit to Melbourne

I was staying at my daughters house and had been organising a meet up with a blogging friend.
The best news was that Jenni only lived a kilometre away from my daughter. What are the chances.
I have been following JENNI's . blog for a while now so it was great to put a face to the name.
We arranged to bus and train it into the city to meet with some other stitchers.
I don't do public transport but with Jenny's help and studying the timetables I managed.
Into the city and back before school was out. Fantastic.

One of Jenny's favourite buildings is at 333 Collins Street.


I enjoyed the Nicholas Building too.
Especially the visit to KIMONO HOUSE

Of course, the famous Flinders Street train Station is always a busy place.


The fantastic shops to look at and spend money.
I met some lovely ladies at Morris & Sons wool shop.
They meet there once a month and I joined them for a short time only.
I had met VIREYA before so it was nice to catch up again.

The art work on buildings is just amazing

A day out at Sovereign Hill with the grandsons.

I was spending the week with my grandsons while their mum and new dad were on a special honeymoon cruising the Great Barrier Reef.

I planned a busy day out with the boys at

SOVEREIGN HILL.

We climbed the tower for a great view.

Xavier was petrified and as a bribe for getting to this level he was to get some special lollies.

He did a good job.

Then down underground for a mine tour. Both boys were very brave and followed along well.

I'm sure they had a great time.

We had some free time so the boys tried some gold panning. No luck.

Nicholas did think he found a speck but I am not convinced. They did try hard.

We went on a horse and cart ride around the little street.

Yes, the boys saw the horses do their business. It got a funny reaction.

They sat in the old time scales even though they thought it was a swing.

We saw the soldiers fire a gun. Boy it was loud.

We had a great day, weather, fun and play time. 

Then went home broke and exhausted.

Birthday fat 1/4s celebration for 1000th post

It was a Happy Birthday to me a while ago but I never got to show the fat 1/4s I received from the girls at my quilt group.

As this is my 1000th post I thought it a good day to share.

Bow Ties needs more

I have finished the rectangular Bow Ties but I think it needs more. So I will be adding an extra row on each side to make it square. This will make it 80" square. 

OK need to get sewing another 20 x 8" blocks.
